CABVI Hosts 3rd Annual $1 Million Lightning Bug Shootout
NEW YORK MILLS, N.Y. – The Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI) teed up for their 3rd annual $1 Million Lightning Bug Shootout tournament at Twin Ponds Golf & Country Club on Saturday, June 7, drawing nearly 100 golfers who all came to show their support for Camp Abilities and enjoy a beautiful day of golf.
During registration, Freedom Guide Dogs joined the festivities, showcasing their newest litter of future guide dog puppies. Attendees had the chance to meet and play with the adorable pups and learn more about the training programs the puppies will complete before being placed with someone who is blind or visually impaired.
The tournament featured a variety of engaging activities including a putting contest, skins, and casino holes. Participants competed for a chance to win incredible prizes, including $10,000 cash, a two-year lease on a 2025 Ford Escape Active, and a brand new snowmobile. The highlight of the day was the $1 million shootout, where the tournaments top golfers took their best shot for the grand prize.
