Employment Support

CABVI assists those who are blind or visually impaired in finding rewarding employment opportunities, both within the agency and in the community. We can assist with job searches, resume writing, interview skills, and more.

Gainful employment allows our consumers to maintain a sense of independence and pride.

In addition to job opportunities at CABVI, we offer a variety of employment programs that address specific needs within the community.

CABVI also provides pre-vocational training to kids ages 13 - 17 to teach them skills that will make them more independent and eventually prepare them to enter the workforce.
Our services don’t stop when consumers start working. We continue to provide support to both the consumer and employer throughout employment.

Pre-vocational Training for Young Adults

Pre-vocational programming prepares students and teens ages 13-17 to gain increased independence in their communities and to eventually enter the workforce. Pre-vocational programs can vary in theme, scope, and subject. CABVI currently facilitates a six-day, overnight residential program during July each year.

Services focus on providing information, support, and experiences that facilitate the exploration of their vocational interests, strengths, and abilities. The training may include adaptive technology, daily living skills, travel skills, low vision, adjustment to vision loss, career exploration, work readiness skills, self-advocacy skill development, college tours, and job shadowing.
