Therapy for the Blind or Visually Impaired
When people begin to lose their vision, some activities may become more challenging – but CABVI can help navigate these changes. We provide tools and techniques that allow our consumers to continue doing the same daily activities.
CABVI offers therapy programs that provide instruction and guidance in adaptive techniques to empower people with vision loss to continue to do everyday activities independently.
Therapists complete comprehensive assessments for each individual to assess their needs and goals.
CABVI’s Vision Rehabilitation Therapists (VRT) and Occupational Therapists work together to help accomplish individual goals by providing training in various techniques or equipment to develop or retain skills for daily living.

Referral Process for Occupational Therapy Services
Doctor referral: After a comprehensive eye exam with an eye doctor, they may recommend remedial vision rehabilitation services if you qualify. This therapy program can be completed at CABVI.
Self-referral: If you believe you qualify for OT remedial vision services, you may do a self-referral to CABVI. To do a self-referral, you must have an eye exam up to date within the past year.
TBI/ABI: If you recently sustained an injury, it is important that you are seen by an optometrist for a comprehensive vision evaluation prior to completing the initial evaluation.
